Ipswich Town Charity Support Policy
At ITFC we take great pride in our community. We understand that just like the support we receive from our fans; our support can make a real difference to individual causes and charitable organisations, whether it’s backing a campaign, promoting an event or donating a prize to help with fundraising.
Over the past few years, there has been a huge increase in the number of charitable requests the Club receives and as with any business, limitations on resources both financial and human, mean that we can’t help everyone to the extent they would like.
We work closely alongside local charities including; The Ipswich Hospital Charity, The Suffolk Punch Trust, St. Elizabeth Hospice, East Anglia Children’s Hospice and Ipswich & East Suffolk Samaritans, focusing our support on these organisations.
Regrettably we are already well-oversubscribed with the charitable support we are offering and aren’t in a position to take on any more charitable partnerships.
Charity Donation Requests
Where we are able to, we do our best to support our fans with their charity fundraising offering a donation of two tickets to a home game selected by the Club. Please note the Club or our players are not able to provide financial assistance or sponsorship. Our players do generously donate funds to our local hospitals and hospices every Christmas.
To be eligible for a prize donation you must:
-Have a registered customer number with Ipswich Town Football Club
-Be raising funds for an organisation registered with the charity commission OR a charter standard youth football team
-Have an official letter on headed paper from the organisation confirming you are raising funds on their behalf
-Be within a 35-mile radius of Ipswich Town Football Club
-Have an event taking place between 1st August 2015 and 25th April 2016.
-Contact us no more than two months and no less than three weeks prior to the event.
If you meet all these criteria, please write to us and include your customer number, date of event and official charity letter. Please address your letter to:
Ipswich Town Football Club
If you don’t meet these criteria, then unfortunately we aren’t able to accommodate your request. Please note we do not accept requests via email.
Matchday Bucket Collections
Together with Ipswich Borough Council, we permit one charity to collect outside the Portman Road stadium on a matchday. The collection will take place an-hour-and-a-half prior to kick-off only, with a maximum of 16 collectors.
Matches are allocated on a first come first serve basis from 1 July 2015, with all spaces usually allocated within a month of this date. Should you wish to apply to hold a bucket collection outside Portman Road, or register for a space on the waiting list, please email firstname.lastname@example.org
Player Appearance Requests
First-team player visits are always in high demand and the time we have with our players for community appearances is very limited due to their demanding training schedules.
As we feel it would be unfair to accommodate some requests and not others, we use the time we do have with the players for club community events. These includes visits to local schools, through the ITFC Education Programme, official supporter club and Junior Blues events, hospital and hospice visits, and meet and greet opportunities at our Planet Blue store and at various locations around the local area connected with our sponsors and partners.
With this in mind, regrettably we aren’t in a position to accommodate any requests for our manager or players to participate in additional community appearances.
Launched by Mick McCarthy and Cole Skuse in October 2014, the ITFC education programme is a fundamental part of the Club’s community work. Focused on using football to inspire primary school children with their reading and writing, the free partnership provides each school with a number of benefits including; a pair of season tickets, signed memorabilia, ITFC player reading posters and access to one of two creative writing project, which involves a chance for the children to interview an Ipswich Town player at their school or attend a home game as a ‘journalist’. For more information on the ITFC Education Programme, please visit www.itfceducation.eschools.co.uk
The ITFC Education Programme is relevant to the KS2 literacy national curriculum and we aren’t currently offering any partnership opportunities with secondary schools.
Autograph & Signed Merchandise Requests
Due to the volume of requests the Club receives, we aren't in a position to accommodate requests for autographs, signed merchandise or items sent in to be signed by the manager or players. This is inclusive of charity requests (please see’ charity donation requests’ for information on how the club support local charities).
The Club do sell a range of signed merchandise via Planet Blue and the official ITFC online auction website www.itfcauction.com . For more information about this service, details of products on offer or to place an order please email email@example.com.
Alternatively, an area outside our main reception is put aside for autographs after most Saturday home games. You can access this area after the game via the main entrance on Constantine Road. No ticket purchase is required.
Matchday Programme & Scoreboard Messages
If you would like to include a personal message in the matchday programme to mark an event such as a birthday, congratulatory, welcome or a bereavement, please email some words and a photo (where appropriate) to firstname.lastname@example.org. Please note photos must be sent as a jpeg attachment and be at least 200KB in size. The deadline for programme entries is 12 days prior to the match.
If you would like to include a message on the matchday scoreboard please email email@example.com. Please note messages are short due to a limitation on characters (i.e. happy [age] birthday [name]) with the deadline for scoreboard messages 24 hours prior to kick-off.
It’s always sad to hear that a member of the Ipswich Town family is no longer with us and we always try our very best to provide support to family and friends during this difficult time.
As we have lots of caring fans who would like to involve ITFC in service arrangements, it does mean we are limited on what we can offer, but this is so we can support as many people as possible. We do offer the loan of a custom-made Ipswich Town coffin drape for funeral services which can be borrowed for up to seven days. We require a £250 cash deposit, payable on collection from our main reception, which will be refunded in full when the drape is returned to us in the same condition.
If you would like to use the drape, please contact our main reception on (01473) 400500 or by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org to arrange. Please note collection and return is Monday to Thursday 09:30 to 16:30 only.
Whilst we don’t wish to charge for this, if you would like to make a donation to the family’s chosen charity in return, we would very much like to receive evidence of your contribution i.e. a thank you letter from the charity, if this is something you would like to consider.
