Town fans under the age of 23 will be able to watch home games next year for between £2.17 and £10 per match as part of a restructuring of the price bands for season tickets.
The change sees the U11 age band increased to U12; the U16 now U19 and the U20 become U23, ensuring younger fans get the cheapest prices at Portman Road for longer.
An U12 season ticket works out at just £2.17 per game while an U19 season ticket will cost from £5.13 per game. U23 season ticket holders will pay £10 per match.
The Club have also launched a new loyalty reward scheme for U12s. Every game attended by an U12 season ticket holder will see a value of £2 in TeamCard points credited to their fan account. So if they attend all 23 Championship home games, they will be credited to the value of £46. That’s just £4 less than the overall cost of the season ticket.
Adult season ticket prices will be increased by 1.5 per cent, which works out at an additional 27p per game in the lower tiers of the Sir Bobby Robson and Sir Alf Ramsey stands. However if season ticket uptake reaches 12,750 by August 4, 2017, ALL season ticket holders will receive a refund of 5 per cent.
While the Club has changed the concession prices at the younger age level to fall in line with full-time and further education, it has also made the decision to come in line with the vast majority of Championship clubs - and in society in general - and raise the senior concession age qualification from 60 to 65.
Season ticket holders can continue to take advantage of the Club’s interest free Direct Debit payment scheme over 12 months.
All admin fees for purchasing a season ticket in-store and by postal application have been removed, while the Club have also revamped the Silver and Gold membership schemes and introduced a new Ultimate membership scheme.
As usual, supporters will get the best prices when purchasing before the Early Bird deadline of midday on Monday, April 17, 2017, with adults in the lower tiers of the Sir Bobby and Sir Alf stands making a saving of £121 compared to post deadline.
“We recognise that we need more young fans to join us at Portman Road so we have put in place an U23s ticketing strategy for next year at affordable prices,” Town MD, Ian Milne, told the Club website.
“The restructuring of U23 pricing means those in education or apprenticeships, with less disposable income, can come to games for just over £5 or £10.
“These are very competitive prices and allows young people to attend a professional football game at pricing that is way below many other types of entertainment.
“Regrettably we have had to increase the adult ticket prices by 1.5 per cent (just under current RPI). This increase is to be in line with the strategy set out in the New Year by our owner. That is to have careful management of the Club’s annual budget and where that budget is spent - and how the Club is to raise revenue to meet its investment priorities of focusing on the Academy; having a competitive wage structure and careful use of our transfer budget on developing players.”
Season ticket packs with full details will be distributed in the post from March 23, with supporters able to purchase season tickets from Monday, March 27.
Current season ticket holders who pay by direct debit will automatically be renewed for 2017/18 unless they tell the Club otherwise.
EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT SEASON TICKETS 2017/18
First things first. If I’m a current season ticket holder and want to renew, how do I go about it?
If you pay via the Club’s Direct Debit scheme, then your season ticket will automatically be renewed for next season. You don’t have to do anything, it’s that simple. If you are a season ticket holder but not on the Direct Debit scheme you can renew at the Planet Blue store, online at www.itfcdirect.com
or by filling in the postal application sent with the season ticket packs.
What if I’m not a current season ticket holder but want to purchase?
You can do so via www.itfcdirect.com
, or do so in person in the Club’s Planet Blue superstore at Portman Road.
If I’m a season ticket holder and don’t want to renew for next year, how do I go about that?
You have to tell the Club by the Early Bird deadline of midday on Monday, April 17. THIS MUST BE DONE IN WRITING. You can do this by email at firstname.lastname@example.org or by sending the appropriate form in the season ticket packs back to the Club using the Freepost envelope provided.
Why has the Club dropped the U11 season ticket that cost £10?
It was felt that it was the right time to restructure the age bands for our younger supporters and unfortunately the U11 season ticket was also being misused, with adult supporters buying an U11 ticket just so they could have a seat in the Family Enclosure or have an empty seat next to them. The £50 season ticket for U12s will be one of the most competitive priced tickets in the Championship and the Club are also looking at very competitive matchday ticket prices for that age bracket.
What’s this about a refund if the Club reaches 12,750 season ticket holders?
Just that. If the season ticket uptake reaches that figure by August 4, 2017 then all season ticket holders will be refunded 5 per cent of their outlay. The refund will be paid via the same payment used to purchase the season ticket and will be processed by August 31. Those fans on the Club’s Direct Debit payment scheme will see their payments reduced between September 2017 and April 2018 to reflect the refunded amount.
Is the Club’s Direct Debit scheme still interest free?
Absolutely. If you purchase or renew before Early Bird deadline and want to use the Direct Debit scheme, your payments will be split over 12 months, with the first payment going out on May 8 and subsequent payments on the first working day of each month thereafter. If you purchase after the Early Bird deadline your payments will be spread over a shorter period.
How much can you save by purchasing at the Early Bird rate?
You can save more than £120 in the lower tiers of Sir Bobby Robson and Sir Alf Ramsey stands and up to almost £230 elsewhere in the stadium.
How does the U12s reward scheme work?
Every time an U12 season ticket holder has their season ticket scanned on the gate at a home League game, a reward of 200 TeamCard points (which is the equivalent of £2) is credited to their fan account. The points build up through the season and can be used any time in the Planet Blue store or online at www.itfcdirect.com
. If an U12 attends every home game in the Championship, they will receive 4600 TeamCard points, which works out at the value of £46. That could be put against the cost of next year’s season ticket.
Can you explain more about the change for the age band at senior level, from 60 to 65?
The Club were one of the last - if not the last - to switch to producing a new home and away shirt every year rather than every two years. Likewise Town are also one of the few clubs that has operated a senior citizens band at 60. The decision has been taken this season though to increase the concessions age category to 65. The qualifying date used by the Club for price bands is August 10, 2017. So if you are aged between 23 and 64 on that date, you will pay an adult price. If you are 65 and above on August 10, you will pay the senior concessions price. If you are currently paying a senior concessions price for a season ticket but will be 64 or younger on August 10, your season ticket for 2017/18 will need to change to an adult ticket. However the increased cost will be subsidised by 50 per cent. The supporters who fall into this bracket will be contacted directly by the Club.
What about match tickets?
They are currently under discussion and full details will be provided towards the end of the season.
When do season tickets go on sale?
From Monday, March 27.
How can supporters contact the Club with any enquiries?
The Ticket Office enquiries line is 03330 050503. This is only for help though. You can’t purchase or cancel your season ticket on this number.
Anything else we need to know?
Anyone who purchases or renews their season ticket by the Early Bird deadline of midday on April 17 will be entered into a prize draw. Five lucky winners drawn out at random will receive their season ticket FREE for 2017/18.
