Declan Daniels on the scoresheet for the Blues, but couldn't prevent a defeat at Playford Road

Despite holding a half-time lead, Town’s U18s were beaten by Charlton Athletic at Playford Road on Saturday morning.

Declan Daniels had the Blues in front as he tapped in Ben Folami’s cross-cum-shot, but the Addicks levelled the scoring on the hour mark through Alex Willis.

Steven Cahill came close to restoring Town’s lead, but Willis put the visitors in front soon after, as he headed home a deflected cross.

With Alan Lee’s side pushing for a leveller, Charlton extended their lead in in stoppage time as Brendan Sarpong Wiredu broke through before slotting past Nick Hayes.

The 18s now go into a mini-winter break before resuming their season on the 7th of January with a trip to face Coventry City.

Team: Hayes, Murrell, Clements, Cahill, Marshall, Ndaba, Wilton, McGavin, Daniels (Cathline, 52), Folami (Crowe, 71), Lankaster (Dobra, 84). Not used: Wright, Barley.
