Mick McCarthy expects Leicester to be in the mix for promotion come the end of the season.
The Town boss takes his side to the King Power Stadium on Saturday looking to continue the upturn in results but fully aware of the challenge ahead against a team that many consider to be favourites for promotion.
“That favourites tag comes from the financial investment they’ve had,” Mick told Ipswich Player.
“They are a good, well balanced side – no doubt about that. They have pace in wide areas, good front players and in midfield with Andy King, they have someone who scores goals from that area.
“Nigel Pearson [Leicester boss] is a pal of mine. We played against each other 100 years ago! He’s a good manager and has got Leicester playing some good football.
“I watched them play Wolves at the start of the season and they played really well in the second-half and I watched their game against Forest last week and they were perhaps unfortunate not to win the match.
“They are a good, solid Championship team and I’d expect them to be in the mix at the top come the end of the season.”
While the Foxes will be looking to cement their place in the top six, a win for Blues could lift the Club out of the bottom three.
“We’re delighted with picking up six points from nine,” added Mick. “We have to be happy with that but we’re not kidding ourselves. There is a long way to go and it will be up and down for a while yet.
“We have not got the biggest squad and we are on the look out to add to it if we can.”
