Town have agreed a deal to sign Daryl Murphy from July 1st.
The Republic of Ireland international has signed a two-year contract at Portman Road which will commence from the start of next month after seeing his deal at Celtic expire.
Daryl is no stranger to life in Suffolk after spending three separate loan spells with Blues, including two season-long stays, the latest coming last year.
The striker or winger did enough to impress Mick McCarthy that he was deserving of a permanent deal and becomes the third signing of the summer, behind the arrivals of midfielders Cole Skuse and Jay Tabb.
The 30-year old began his career in his native Ireland with Waterford United, before being brought over to England by Mick, when he was in charge of Sunderland.
The striker went on to make over 100 appearances at the Stadium of Light and took in loan spells with Sheffield Wednesday and Town, before moving north of the border to sign for Celtic.
First-team opportunities were hard to come by at Celtic Park and two season-long loan spells back at Portman Road followed, before finally agreeing to join the Blues permanently on a two-year contract.
Full reaction from Daryl will follow on the Club website later today.
