Close on 9000 votes were received from Town fans when we asked what music the Blue Army wanted to hear on a matchday, as the players enter the arena and as an anthem before kick-off.
The runaway anthem winner was My Way by Frank Sinatra – a favourite of Sir Bobby Robson’s. That connection has struck a chord with Blues fans, with the track polling twice as many as the other anthem candidates collected together.
The final verse of the track will be played just before kick-off against Blackburn on Saturday in the first Championship game of the season and throughout the 2012/13 campaign.
FatBoy Slim’s Right Here, Right Now was the popular choice as the sound to be played in the tunnel just before the players came out, with the music maestros at Portman Road working the My Way anthem into the mix as well.
The words to My Way will be shown on the scoreboard and in the matchday programme but to get you in the mood...
For what is a man, what has he got?
If not himself, then he has naught
To say the things he truly feels and not the words of one who kneels
The record shows I took the blows and did it my way!
Yes, it was my way
