Striker close to sealing loan switch to League Two club

Ronan Murray is set to join Plymouth on loan until the end of the season.

The 21-year-old striker has made one substitute appearance for Town during the campaign but has not featured in the matchday 18 since the end of September.

“Ronan is going there and he’s going to go and play some games,” Town boss Mick McCarthy told the Club website.

John Sheridan (Plymouth manager) is somebody I know personally and he plays the game in the right way. He likes to play football and I think Ronan will enjoy it.”

It will be Ronan’s third loan spell with the Republic of Ireland U21 international playing for Torquay in the 2010/11 season and then scoring three goals in 20 League appearances while with Paolo Di Canio’s Swindon last term.

The frontman will have one familiar face alongside him at Home Park with former Town team-mate and fellow Ireland U21 cap Conor Hourihane a regular in the Pilgrims’ side.

Meanwhile Mick has confirmed that he is looking to get Josh Carson out on loan, with a number of clubs interested in the Northern Ireland international, whilst the Town boss also revealed that Jason Scotland could move on from Portman Road.
