Town have completed a second signing in as many days, with DJ Campbell checking in at Portman Road on loan from QPR.
The striker will be with the Blues for three months and could come into contention to feature in tomorrow’s televised game against Cardiff.
The 30 year-old caught the eye with two spells at Blackpool, helping the Seasiders into the top flight via the Play-Offs in 2010.
DJ originally worked his way up from non-league, turning out for Brentford, Birmingham, Leicester and Derby in the football league, before a spell in the top flight with QPR last term.
“I knew there was interest from Ipswich and working with Paul (Jewell) at this great Club was something that really interested me,” DJ told the Club website.
“There were a few options but I spoke to a couple of people, like Kieron Dyer and a few of my other mates who have played here, and they all spoke very highly of the Club.
“I know the results haven’t been the best so far but from what people have been saying, the performances have been good but we just haven’t been able to put the ball in the back of the net.
“But I’m fit and raring to go if called upon for tomorrow’s game. Obviously I haven’t played much this season but I've been playing reserve games, so I am match fit and I’m ready to go out there and give 100%.
“That’s something that hopefully the fans will see in me, that I will always give my all out on the pitch and I’m looking forward to getting started with Ipswich.”
