An excellent all round performance by possibly the youngest youth team ever put out by Town saw Blues ease to a 3-0 win.

The squad was without any second year scholars and comprised only five first year scholars, joined by schoolboys.

Jack Ainsley was a continual threat and deserved his double appearance on the scoresheet.

Town dominated the game during the first-half and went in two goals up at the break, Ainsley on target in the fifth and 25th minute.

Southampton made life a lot more difficult in the second-half and caused Town more problems particularly from set-pieces.  A magnificent display from skipper Paul Watson, who was dominant throughout, ensured the lead was not sacrificed though and Billy Clark wrapped things up on the 72nd minute with a clever finish.
