Sammy is the joker in the pack and attended Dover College where his favourite subject was physical education. His brother Jason was a pro on the books of West Ham and he, together with mum and dad, Denise and Henry, have been the biggest influence on his career. In his spare time Sammy enjoys tennis and golf. Sammy is currently studying for a BTech Diploma in Sports.

Several clubs were interested in acquiring Sammy's talents and after being released by Chelsea he had no hesitation in taking up the invitation to join Ipswich. He enjoyed his time on trial here and describes the day he signed for Town as his best moment in football. Sammy says of the Academy, "You are guaranteed of getting good coaching plus if you work hard enough you will be given your chance".

His favourite player is Frank Lampard. "He is a total midfielder, he can pass and tackle and he scores goals".

Sammy is another of the lads who is looked after by Jackie and Gerry Jarvis.
