In the early 1970s the Harwich branch of the Supporters Club donated a silver Rose Bowl to the Club to be presented each season to the player of the year, as voted by Town's supporters. The first winner, chosen at the end of the 1972/73 season, was the young Kevin Beattie, then still a teenager.

The list is varied with only four players winning the award more than once, indicating the breadth of popular players to have represented Ipswich Town over the past 35 years.
