Giovani marked his home debut with a terrific goal but it wasn't enough to give Blues the three points.

The Mexico international burst on to the ball on 72 minutes and lashed a shot past Brian Jensen to cancel out Wade Elliott's first-half strike.
Giovani could have won it for Blues late on but couldn't convert from six yards while Richard Wright saved well from Elliott and Steven Caldwell in an end to end thriller at Portman Road.

Town made two changes to the team that beat Reading at the weekend, Ivan Campo coming in at the back for Pim Balkestein and Giovani making his full debut in a three man attack with Alan Quinn dropping to the bench.

Jon Stead had a header blocked in a bright opening for Town and Blues should have been ahead inside 10 minutes when Giovani, on loan from Tottenham, broke through on goal but he tried to chip the advancing Brian Jensen, who made a comfortable save.

Rhys Williams had a shot deflected over from eight yards as Burnley played with the confidence of a team with three wins on the spin and 10 goals in that time.

Owen Coyle's had a shout for a penalty when Campo clashed with Chris McCann in the box before the Clarets took the lead on 18 minutes but only after Jensen had denied Luciano Civelli. The Argentine linked up well with Giovani and was clear on goal but the Dane made the block and 10 seconds later the ball was in the Town net, Chris Eagles feeding Elliott who fired across Richard Wright into the corner of the net.

Wright saved well from Eagles' 20 yarder and Steven Caldwell headed wide when left unmarked from a corner as Burnley threatened a second. Wright then making a reflex save with his legs to keep out a point blank header from Elliott.

David Wright saw his effort deflected wide and just evading Stead after a great run by the Town full-back, with David Norris finishing off an entertaining first-half with a left foot shot at Jensen from the edge of the box.

Martin Paterson tested Wright with a shot from the angle a minute into the second-half but Town should have been level soon after, Kevin Lisbie taking advantage of a mix up in the visitors' defence but he sidefooted just wide with Jensen beaten. Gareth McAuley heading over from Norris' cross.

Paterson picked up the first yellow card of the game after a trip on Campo before Burnley made a change, Paterson making way for Jay Rodriguez just before the hour.
Burnley almost added a second immediately, Robbie Blake's free-kick headed goalwards by Caldwell with the ball hitting Wright in the face, Ben Thatcher clearing.

Pablo Counago and Owen Garvan replaced Lisbie and Norris on 62 minutes, Counago just failing to get on the end of Thatcher's shot before Blues levelled on 72 minutes, Giovani smashing the ball past Jensen from 20 yards with a low shot after taking Stead's chest trap in his stride. Alan Quinn replacing Miller.

McAuley's wonderful 50 yard pass sent Giovani through on the right, the Mexican fouled with Civelli's free-kick held by Jensen.
Joey Gudjonsson replaced Eagles for the final 15 minutes, Wright saving from Blake's 30 yarder.

A mistake by Campo gave Rodriguez a chance, McAuley in the right place to clear, Wright tested by McCann's effort while at the other end Giovani couldn't convert Quinn's cross from six yards.
Jensen saved low down from Counago as both sides threatened a winner with the game ending with a major injury worry for Town with Civelli leaving the pitch on a stretcher.
