Jason Euell's close range finish was enough to give Blackpool the points at Bloomfield Road.

The former Charlton striker volleyed in early in the second-half after Town had failed to deal with Charlie Adam's long throw.

Daryl Murphy brought a terrific save from man of the match Matthew Gilks in the home goal, the 'keeper denying David Healy with Blues hitting the crossbar in added on time as Town pressed for an equaliser.

Grant Leadbitter picked up a 10th yellow card of the season and will now face a two match suspension.

Town boss Roy Keane made one change to the side that drew with Bristol City last week with David Healy, who was away on international duty with Northern Ireland in Albania in midweek, dropping to the bench, Jaime Peters coming in.

Neal Eardley fired over with the first shot in anger after Adam, the most impressive player on the park in the first-half, had been brought down by Grant Leadbitter.

Town were inches away from taking the lead on six minutes, Carlos Edwards' cross just evading Murphy at the far post, while at the other end neat interplay between Euell and Stephen Dobbie carved out an opening but Edwards was in the right place to clear.

Keith Southern headed over from a corner, then Rob Edwards diverted the ball wide from another flagkick as Blackpool edged the opening exchanges. Liam Rosenior denying David Vaughan inside the box with a great tackle after Peters had lost possession.

Euell fired over on the turn, Leadbitter had a 25 yard free-kick hacked away by Alex Baptiste, then the Blackpool defender showed a cool head to nod the ball back to 'keeper Gilks as Jon Walters looked to get in on Leadbitter's chip.

Murphy fired over for Town after Walters had set him up, while his namesake Brian in the Blues' goal palmed away Adam's 30 yarder.

Town began to enjoy more possession and territory in the closing stages of the half and Peters forced a good save out of Gilks, Edwards blitzed a strike over from the angle then Murphy forced Gilks into the best save of the first 45 minutes, diving to his right. Rosenior picked up a yellow card in the last seconds before the break.

Ian Holloway's side were forced back as the second-half got underway, the Pool defence clearing off the line following a scramble, Jack Colback sending a free-kick over after Leadbitter had been fouled.

But it was the home side who regained the initiative, Murphy saving from Vaughan before Euell was on hand to sidefoot the Seasiders ahead on 54 minutes after Gareth McAuley's misdirected header from a Adam throw had fallen into his path six yards out.

Town responded, Murphy driving the ball over, then seeing another effort blocked. McAuley's header held by Gilks on the line.
Joe Martin was yellow carded, then Leadbitter followed into referee Shoebridge's notebook taking his tally to 10 for the season and a two match ban.

Town made a double change midway through the half with Murphy and Edwards replaced by Connor Wickham and Healy.

Norris upended Adam on the edge of the box but the wall did its job at Adam's free-kick, Norris then making way for Pablo Counago for the last 20 minutes. Former Blue Billy Clarke then joining the action for Dobbie.

Gilks' brilliant save kept his side in front, the keeper's fingertips diverting Healy's glancing header around the post, Damien Delaney then firing over from eight yards.

Sunderland loanee Healy volleyed over after Blackpool had failed to clear Wickham's throw while at the other end, Murphy saved low down from Clarke.

Clarke sent an overhead kick over from close range, Blackpool making a second change with Martin replaced by Ben Burgess.

Euell picked up a late booking for a foul on Peters, Town then hitting the woodwork in the last seconds through Jon Walters but the Seasiders held on for the points.
