Town had to settle for a point in a thrilling finish to the game that saw four goals in 10 minutes at the Keepmoat Stadium.

Doncaster took the lead in controversial circumstances when Waide Fairhurst forced the ball in after he challenged Richard Wright for Gareth Roberts' cross.

Jack Colback levelled for Blues with his first goal for the Club shortly after coming on as a second-half substitute only to see Martin Woods put Donny back in front from 25 yards soon after.

Town immediately responded with a header from Tamas Priskin and looked to have won it when Lee Martin forced the ball in on 79 minutes.

But Quinton Fortune, a former Manchester United team-mate of Roy Keane's secured a point for his side with the best goal of the match, a strike into the top corner from 30 yards six minutes from time.

Town made two changes to the side that drew with Forest in midweek, Pablo Counago coming in for Jon Stead and Tommy Smith replacing the suspended Gareth McAuley.

Counago had the first effort on goal, diverting Carlos Edwards' throw at Neil Sullivan in the Doncaster goal.

Wright gathered well from Roberts' cross under the bar as both sides struggled to carve out a clear opening and it was from another Roberts cross that Sean O'Driscoll's side took the lead on 12 minutes, Fairhurst hooking the ball into the empty net after Wright and the goalscorer challenged for the high ball with the Town 'keeper looking as though he was impeded. Blues clearly expected a whistle but referee Nigel Miller waved away Alex Bruce's appeals.

Lee Martin couldn't get his shot in after Counago had released him on goal with a header from Wright's kick downfield, Counago then putting the ball in the net from Alan Quinn's pass but not before the offside flag was raised.

The Spaniard then flashed a header wide from Damien Delaney's cross, Quinn bringing a save from Sullivan with a well executed volley from the edge of the box.

At the other end, Wright saved spectacularly from Jon Oster's strike, Bruce then bravely blocking Woods' strike with his face.

Jon Walters blazed wide from a good position after Quinn had put him in, Smith then heading wide from Martin's corner as Town threatened an equaliser just before the break.

Delaney danced his way past three Doncaster defenders in the first minute of the second-half but his cross was cleared, Blues then beating out a free-kick after Quinn had caught John Spicer. Billy Sharp sent a header wide at the nearpost, the Doncaster striker just failing to beat the offside flag seconds later.

Counago had a header deflected just wide as Town enjoyed a spell of pressure on the home box. Edwards firing well over from distance.

Town made a double change just before the hour with Jaime Peters and Colback on for Quinn and Edwards.

Walters claimed a penalty as he challenged for a Liam Rosenior's cross with a possible push from Jason Shackell and Blues should have been level on 63 minutes when Bruce got on the end of Grant Leadbitter's chipped pass but he couldn't beat Sullivan.

Town were level two minutes later though, Colback's left foot did the trick from the edge of the box with a low drive after Doncaster had failed to clear their lines.

Town were visibly lifted by the goal and Martin just failed to convert Rosenior's cross, Priskin then joining the action for Walters on 68 minutes.

Shackell hooked the ball over the bar following a goalmouth scramble but Doncaster struck again on 73 minutes, Woods firing in from 25 yards after a corner fell to him on the angle.

The home side immediately introduced Dean Shiels and Fortune for Fairhurst and Sam Hird but seconds later Blues were level, Priskin heading in from Leadbitter's free-kick.

Sullivan denied Colback with a brilliant save, then Smith sent a header against the bar from the corner but Martin forced home the rebound for his first goal for Town.

Doncaster made a third change with Paul Heffernan on for Spicer for the last 10 minutes and it was fellow substitute Fortune who pulled the home side level again, sending in a superb 30 yarder to beat Wright on 84 minutes to finish off a flurry of goals.

There were further chances, Priskin headed at Sullivan from three yards, Heffernan lifted the ball over the bar, then tested Wright in a thrilling end to the game.
