Jon Macken gave Barnsley all three points with the last kick of the game at Oakwell

The former Town loanee struck from the edge of the box after Liam Rosenior's first goal for Town looked like it has given Blues a point.

Barnsley took the lead on eight minutes when Iain Hume cut inside and sent a low drive into the bottom corner but Town were level just before the break, Rosenior heading in after Grant Leadbitter's free-kick had been parried by former Blues' loanee Bartosz Bialkowski.

Hume had a chance to win it for Barnsley but saw his penalty rebound from the woodwork.

Town boss Roy Keane stayed with the team that started in the 3-3 draw at Sheffield United, Tamas Priskin starting up front alongside Jon Walters.

Blues' habit of giving an early advantage to the opposition continued though with Hume providing Barnsley with the lead on eight minutes, the Canada international beating Richard Wright with a left foot drive.

Carlos Edwards tried his luck from distance as Town responded, Jaime Peters going a lot closer with a drive from the edge of the box.

At the other end, Ryan Shotton showed neat footwork to weave past Alan Quinn, his shot bouncing awkwardly in front of Wright but the 'keeper held on.

Bialkowski also held firm to deal with Edwards' curling cross, then punched clear from  Leadbitter's free-kick that got held up in the wind.

Jamal Campbell-Ryce's pace got him away from Rosenior, his cross finding Hume whose shot was deflected wide by Tommy Smith, Stephen Foster heading the corner just over. Hume then forcing Wright to smother his shot.

Town had a great chance to level the scores eight minutes before the break, Priskin's cross went behind Walters but Foster let the ball drift past and had to throw himself in the way to make the block as Quinn fired goalwards.

Priskin had an even better opportunity straight after, his header going at Bialkowski after brilliant work down the left by Walters.

Macken thumped a fierce strike over the bar from 10 yards, a goalmouth melee taking place at other end after Priskin challenged Bialkowski as he saved from Liam Trotter, the Hungarian international booked for the offence. Darren Moore also went into referee Phil Gibbs' notebook after leading the Barnsley protests over the challenge.

Town equalised in added on time at the end of the first-half, Leadbitter again the provider with a fiercely hit free-kick from 30 yards that Bialkowski parried, Rosenior heading the rebound spectacularly into the net.

Priskin caught Foster slightly late in the first exchanges of the second-half, the Town striker given a warning by referee Gibbs as the home fans called for a red card.

Shotton had a shot blocked by Rosenior as the Tykes enjoyed a flurry of crosses and corners around the Town box, Rosenior doing well again to clear from Hume after the former Leicester striker had weaved his way into the box.

Leadbitter headed a corner off the line, a long throw assisted by the wind then presenting Hume with a chance he sent wide, while Edwards shot similarly wide at the other end.

Pablo Counago replaced Priskin on the hour in the first change of the game, the Spaniard immediately opening up a chance for Edwards, Trotter then firing over from a great position after Walters' cut back.

Barnsley made a double swap on 66 minutes, Emil Hallfredsson and Jacob Butterfield on for Hugo Colace and Campbell-Ryce.

Bialkowski saved from Counago before Barnsley were handed a penalty on 72 minutes when Smith was judged to have tripped Hume. Leadbitter was booked for protesting, Hume seeing his shot hit the post.

Jon Stead replaced Edwards, Walters pushing to a far right role. Quinn volleyed the substitute's cross harmlessly wide as Blues pressed for a second goal.

Lee Martin replaced Quinn in Town's final change, Julian Gray on for the injured Nathan Doyle in the home side's last throw of the dice.

Gareth McAuley had a shot cleared off the line, while Wright dived on the ball at the feet of Hume before Macken struck as Town conceded a goal in added on time for the second successive game.
