Forest confirmed their place in the Play-Offs with a second-half goal rush at the City Ground after Roy Keane's side had more than held their own for 45 minutes.

Connor Wickham and Daryl Murphy both went close to opening the scoring for Town before Luke Chambers put the home side in front on 47 minutes, deflecting in Rob Earnshaw's shot.

Blues lost Damien Delaney to injury soon after and just before the hour Guy Moussi doubled Forest's lead before Earnshaw wrapped up the points with a finish from six yards 13 minutes from time.

Town stayed with the same team that beat Derby at the weekend, Tom Eastman retaining his place on the bench.
Chris Cohen fired wide inside the first two minutes for Forest as Billy Davies' side chased a 13th home win in 14 games.

Daryl Murphy came closest to breaking the deadlock in the first-half soon after, the Sunderland loanee shrugging off two challenges on a 30 yard run before firing at goal, Lee Camp's feet keeping his goal intact.

Brian Murphy was forced into action to save from Delaney's header after the defender deflected Moussi's right wing cross goalwards.

Nathan Tyson's header was deflected wide after Paul Anderson's cross cannoned up in the air, while at the other end Jack Colback had a shot blocked, then Grant Leadbitter was also left frustrated as Chris Gunter got in the way of his goalbound effort.

Forest failed to deal with Town's corners with any real degree of confidence, Gareth McAuley getting on the end of a set-piece, his header falling into the path of David Norris but the midfielder couldn't force the ball in from eight yards out.

A mix up in the Forest box left Camp just making his clearance under pressure from Connor Wickham, while at the other end Rob Earnshaw and Paul Anderson both fired wide.

Leadbitter picked up the only booking of the half for a foul, possibly harshly. Moussi fell over inside the box when in a good position but it was Town who went closest to taking the advantage into the break, Wickham firing wide of the far post after Colback and Leadbitter had linked up to release him down the left.

Forest didn't have to wait long to grab the lead as the second-half got underway, Tyson fouled down the right and from the free-kick, Earnshaw's shot hitting Chambers and completely wrong-footing Murphy.

Blues were forced into changes soon after, Tommy Smith replacing the injured Delaney, Carlos Edwards also on for Colback in a tactical switch.

Tyson wasted a gilt edged chance to put Earnshaw through on goal after a Forest breakaway, Leadbitter testing Camp at the other end with a low drive from 25 yards.

Forest struck again on 57 minutes, Moussi converting from close range despite the attentions of 'keeper Murphy and Norris.
Chambers was replaced by James Perch just past the hour in the home side's first change.

Wickham whipped a cross-shot inches wide of the far post before making way for David Healy in Town's last throw of the dice over the last 20 minutes. Radoslaw Majewski joining the action soon after, replacing Anderson.

Forest made it three on 77 minutes, Earnshaw finishing from six yards after Murphy had been left exposed as first the Wales international then Tyson were initially denied.

Daryl Murphy lifted Shane O'Connor's cross over the bar in a rare Town opening, Forest making a final change with George Boyd on for Tyson.
The former Peterborough winger almost made an immediate impact, his cross from the left inches away from Earnshaw at the far post.

Good work from Jon Walters created an opening for Norris eight yards out but the midfielder's effort was deflected over in the final act on goal, summing up Town's day.
