Connor Wickham's third League goal of the season wasn't enough to prevent Roy Keane's side setting a Club record 19th draw of the campaign.

The 17-year-old, who made his debut against Doncaster just over a year ago, put Blues in front inside the last 20 minutes and that looked like enough to win the game until referee Andy Penn pointed to the spot after Shane O'Connor had challenged Dean Shiels in the box eight minutes from time and the Rovers player sent Brian Murphy the wrong way from 12 yards.

Town made two changes to the side that lost out to Nottingham Forest last weekend, David Wright and Tommy Smith in for Jaime Peters and the injured Damien Delaney.

Doncaster shaded the possession in the opening 15 minutes, Gareth Roberts testing  Murphy with a left foot shot that the 'keeper gathered low down.

Gareth McAuley got on the end of a free-kick after evading Donny's offside trap but his header drifted just wide, Grant Leadbitter then sending a volley wide of the far post after a corner had been cleared back to him.

James Chambers was denied by McAuley's challenge as he escaped O'Connor's attentions, Murphy called into action soon after to snatch a cross away from Paul Heffernan.

Town looked at their most dangerous from free-kicks with McAuley again getting on the end of Leadbitter's delivery, Daryl Murphy hooking the knockdown over the bar.

David Wright did enough to divert Shelton Martis' testing pass back to Murphy, while at the other end Jack Colback burst into the box but his shot was deflected wide.

Smith headed wide from O'Connor's delivery as both sides struggled to carve out any real openings, Wickham firing well wide after a break as the first-half came to an end.

Smith headed wide from another free-kick in the first minute of the second-half, Wickham almost releasing Walters soon after.

Owen Garvan replaced Daryl Murphy on 57 minutes, Walters pushing up front to join Wickham in Town's first change.

Neil Sullivan saved comfortably from Wickham's header at the far post before Doncaster made their first move from the bench, Shiels on for Jordon Mutch midway through the half.

Murphy was in the right place to clear from John Oster at his nearpost, the 'keeper then gathering Shiels's cross as Heffernan threatened before Town edged in front out of nothing 18 minutes from time. Chambers diverted the ball into the box and Wickham toe-poked it into the empty net after Sullivan had left his line.

The teenager was inches away from getting on the end of Colback's cross two minutes later, Blues then making a second change with Jaime Peters on for David Norris.

Doncaster levelled eight minutes from time, again out of nothing, O'Connor judged to have pushed Shiels in the box after the full-back had failed to clear and the substitute scored from the spot.

Wickham was yellow carded for a foul, Murphy doing well to tip the ball over the bar seconds later from Chambers' cross.

Sam Hird replaced Mark Wilson for the last five minutes, Billy Clark then handed his debut for Blues, Wickham making way while Donny made a final change, Waide Fairhurst on for Heffernan.

Leadbitter was crowded out in the final moments as Blues were forced to settle for that point and that Club record draw tally.
