JUNIOR BLUES PROVES A HIT
It's 5000 up for the Junior Blues, the free to join membership for Town fans under the age of 16.
The milestone was reached after Jack Fountain from Wymondham, Norfolk signed up for the scheme and as well as benefiting from being a member of the Junior Blues, the youngster is set to receive an additional Blues' bonus.
"I watched the mascots at Portman Road last season and thought it would be really cool to be one so my step-dad signed me up for the Junior Blues," said Jack.
"Then I heard I was the 5000th member and that the Club had invited me to come to the training ground to meet Danny Haynes and to be a mascot at the first League game of the season against Sheffield Wednesday. It's so cool. I can't wait. I want to go to all the Junior Blues events now as well."
Junior Blues was launched at the end of last season, with young fans able to join if they are under 16 on August 10, 2007.With the chance to be Town's mascot at home or away games, opportunities to meet the Blues' first-team players and invitations to special Club events, it's no wonder the membership is growing quicker than a Jaime Peters burst down the wing.
After clocking up 5000 members, Junior Blues has welcomed on board another special new recruit, Suffolk Roadsafe, who are to sponsor the Junior Blues for the next two seasons.
Guy McGregor, portfolio holder for roads and transport with Suffolk County Council said: " Road Safety is one of the county council's main priorities. Too many accidents happen on the roads and it is important to educate as many people as possible on road safety. By supporting the Junior Blues we hope to get across the importance of road safety when cycling or walking in Suffolk."
