BURY SHOP TO CLOSE
Ipswich Town Football Club has announced that it is to close the Planet Blue store in St John's Street, Bury St Edmunds when the current lease expires at the end of June.
The Club has had a retail outlet in the town for more than 10 years - one of the few League clubs to have a third club shop - but after a business review it has now been decided that it is not economically viable to continue with the smallest of the Planet Blue stores.
"It is a decision that we have taken reluctantly but is the result of a thorough review of our whole retail operation," says Town's Sales and Marketing Director, Andrew Goulborn.
"Increasingly we have found that our presence in Bury is not economically viable with customer numbers down and operating costs increasing year on year. We will, however, continue to review future retail opportunities in Bury."
"For our supporters based in Bury, who currently use the Planet Blue store there, we will be encouraging them to use our telephone and internet channels for buying both merchandise and match tickets. The use of these has grown massively over the last two years, up by 35 per cent. And supporters coming to ITFC games will of course be able to continue to use the Planet Blue Superstore at Portman Road."
The Club would like to thank all supporters who have shopped at the Bury store over the past 10 years.
