Alex Bruce will join Owen Garvan on international duty with the Town defender called into the Republic of Ireland senior squad.

Owen was named in new boss Giovanni Trapattoni's initial squad of 40 and kept his place after it was trimmed to 28.

Alex has also now been included in the squad that meets up in Dublin on Thursday before flying out to Portugal for a training camp.

Both players will also be in contention to feature in friendlies against Serbia at Croke Park on May 24 and Colombia at Fulham's Craven Cottage on May 29.

Meanwhile Town Academy scholar Paul Murphy's campaign with the Republic of Ireland U17s in the European Championship is over. The Irish lost all three of their games against Spain, Switzerland and France - with Paul on target against the French.
