Town boss Jim Magilton was delighted with his team's performance against Derby and says Blues are beginning to get back to the home form of last term.
Goals from Pablo Counago and Jon Walters gave Town the points with Jim telling Ipswich World: "I was really pleased for the players, they were very good from the first whistle.
"They played at a good tempo from the start and it was a terrific all round display. The players showed great character to bounce back from last week's defeat at Doncaster and it was an important three points.
"I was pleased for the front two, both scoring and that will be good for their confidence. With Jon Stead and Kevin Lisbie as well we have options up front. They all know the way we play and all are capable of coming in and doing a job for us.
"On the back of the QPR game, that's two very good performances at home and there are signs that we are getting back to the sort of form we showed last season at Portman Road.
"Derby came at us after half-time and that was credit to them but we withstood what they had to offer and came back with more and that was very pleasing.
"Shumi did well for us in midfield and both full-backs were solid. I knew Ben Thatcher could cope - coming in for his first game for a while - and David Wright is having a good season."
