FINAL BALL COST US

Posted on: Sat 10 Jan 2009

Jim Magilton blamed the lack of quality final ball for the reason Town had to settle for a point against Sheffield Wednesday.

Pablo Counago's close range finish cancelled out Steve Watson's 50th minute opener for the Owls with Jon Stead and Jon Walters both going close to a winner for Blues.

"It's got to be two points dropped for us," Jim told Ipswich World.

"We looked lively in the first-half and got in good areas but we lacked that bit of quality when it really mattered and that is what separates us from the top two or three teams in this division. It certainly separates the Championship from the Premier League.

"It was a bad goal for us to give away but we showed character again to bounce back and Pablo was in the right place. I'd like to see him score more goals like that, real poacher goals.

"It was a good header fromGareth (McAuley) that led to the goal and he can be a threat for us in the opposition box. He's hard to stop when he really attacks the ball and shows a real desire and he needs to do that more because we have yet to see a goal from him and he has goals in him."

Ivan Campo limped off with what appears to be a calf strain and Jim added: "It's too early to tell how bad it is but he's certainly got to be doubtful for next week."
