GIO HAPPY WITH DEBUT

Posted on: Wed 18 Mar 2009

Giovani is already looking forward to Saturday's game against Watford after marking his home debut for Town with a goal.

The Mexico international, on loan at Portman Road from Tottenham, gave Blues a point in the 1-1 draw with Burney last night, burying a powerful low drive past Brian Jensen on 72 minutes.

"I was very happy with my debut and scoring the goal," the 19-year-old told the Club website.

"It was a good game to play in, both teams had chances and tried to pass the ball well. It was a great atmosphere to play in as well. The fans have been amazing to me here.

"I'm very happy to be at Ipswich, there is a good atmosphere around the Club and I'm enjoying my football. That is why I came here and now I look forward to Watford on Saturday and trying to get three points."

Giovani could have won the game for Blues late on and also had a chance to open the scoring but lost out in a one on one with Clarets' 'keeper Brian Jensen.

"I tried to chip the ball over the 'keeper. I thought he was going to dive," added the former Barcelona player.

"At the end when the ball came over, I could not get a shot it. It happens, it's football. I was pleased with my game though. My fitness was okay and will get better with matches."
