Jim Magilton has said he's only let Shane Supple go out on loan so that he can get some first-team football.

The Republic of Ireland U21 international 'keeper has joined Oldham on loan until the end of the season, teaming up again with former Blues' boss, Joe Royle, with Bartosz Bialkowski coming in from Southampton on loan as cover for Richard Wright.

"We have been trying to get Shane some games for a while and that's the only reason we have let him go because I rate him highly," Jim told the Club website.

"He has been desperate to play and Joe will make sure that happens. Joe gave Shane his debut and knows him well so it's a good opportunity for the lad.

"The switch also gives us a chance to have a look at Bart."
