Jim Magilton took responsibility for the defeat against Doncaster but felt that the players let him down with a disappointing display.

Goals from Gareth Roberts, Paul Heffernan and James Hayter gave the visitors the points with Owen Garvan on target for Town.

"I have to take the blame for the performance but I felt that some of the players were playing as though the season is over and that's very disappointing,"  the Town boss told the Club website.

"I felt the players let me down with that display, they let themselves down and the supporters.

"It was a performance that wasn't acceptable. They showed more desire than we did and it's as low as I've felt in my career.

"I could have no complaints with the crowd reaction at the end either. The longer the game went on the worse we got and we could have lost by more.

"The only bit of quality we showed was the goal. I expected us to push on from there but we tried to hit killer passes and never threatened their goal and again that is not acceptable.

"The only positive from the game is Connor Wickham coming on. The kid showed more heart and spirit than some of the senior professionals."

Connor became the youngest ever Town player at 16 years and 11 days.
