Jim Magilton praised his players for their attitude after Giovani's last minute penalty gave Town a point at Ashton Gate.
Marvin Elliott looked like he had won it for Bristol City when he nudged the ball past Richard Wright early in the second-half but Blues equalised four minutes into added on time after Ivan Campo had been fouled in the box.
"It was the least we deserved, a draw, and I can't praise the players enough," Jim told the Club website after the game.
"I wanted to see a reaction after the Doncaster game and I got one. The lads showed a great attitude, a real desire and a real togetherness.
"The dressing-room was very low after Saturday but that performance has made us more upbeat. They could have started feeling sorry for themselves - and mentally that is easy to do when you know your goal can't be reached, the top six, but they kept going until the final whistle and fully deserved to get an equaliser.
"They stuck to their task and I'm delighted with every one of them. Now we've got a big game coming up next week, a derby against Norwich and we're all looking forward to it."
