Roy Keane has challenged Ed Upson to take advantage of a 'big year' for him after signing a new contract at Portman Road.

The 19-year-old has not featured in first team football for Blues and looked to be on his way out of the Club after spending two months on loan at Blue Square Premier club Stevenage last term.

But Ed did enough at the end of last term to win the offer of a new one year deal at the Club, which he signed this morning - getting a message from Roy at the same time.

"I took some feedback from the other staff here when thinking about Ed," the Town boss told the Club website. "Sometimes you have to be a bit patient with players.

"I saw him briefly in a reserve match and saw enough in the boy to give him a chance. It's up to him now, it will be a big year for him."
