SHANE SIGNS UP

Posted on: Tue 30 Jun 2009

Shane Supple has put pen to paper on a new one year contract at Portman Road.

The Republic of Ireland U21 international becomes the third out of contract player at the Club to agree a new deal, with Alex Bruce signing a two year contract and Ed Upson extending his stay with Blues by at least another 12 months.

Shane, who has made 37 appearances for Town after progressing through the Academy, spent two months on loan at Oldham last season but his stay was curtailed early because of a knee injury.

"I'm delighted to have agreed a new contract at the Club,"  the 22-year-old 'keeper, who was understudy to Richard Wright at Portman Road last term, told the Club website.

"I've not signed just to sit on the bench though. I want to play first-team football and I intend to put as much pressure on Wrighty as I can.

"I know he's a top goalkeeper and he proved that here last season but he knows I'll be after his shirt."
