Roy Keane was encouraged by Town's attacking display and felt his side did enough to have taken all three points at Doncaster.
Substitutes Jack Colback and Tamas Priskin were on target for Blues with Lee Martin edging Town ahead with 10 minutes to go only for Roy's former Manchester United team-mate Quinton Fortune to fire in from 30 yards with his right foot to earn Doncaster a 3-3 draw.
"I was pleased with our attacking play," said Roy. "We looked threatening and I can't say that about some of our performances this season.
"We had the better of the chances and I think we did enough to have won the match.
"I'm pleased for Jack. That was his first goal. He could go on and be a very good footballer. Tamas scored his second goal for us and he will stake a claim for place in the team next week. That's what I want, I'm desperate for players to stake a claim for a place in the side.
"Our subs did well for us and that's what you want from your bench, players to come on and make a difference. It was an encouraging display but we've got a lot of catching up to do.
"Looking at their goals, two of them were from 25 - 30 yards and when you see as player shooting from there, you normally will take it but they were great strikes, particularly Quinton's. I have never seen him do that before, not even in training."
