Alex Bruce has been ruled out of Tuesday's game at Sheffield United with a groin injury.

The Town skipper was substituted during the first-half of the defeat against Newcastle with Blues boss Roy Keane saying: "Alex has a groin problem and he will certainly miss the Sheffield United game and Saturday at Barnsley as well.

"Gareth McAuley has done some light training and we will have a look at him today to see what stage he's at."

The Northern Ireland international took a knock on his calf during the draw against Nottingham Forest and missed the Newcastle match.
