Roy Keane has given his full backing to Arran Lee-Barrett, who will make his first start for Town at Bristol City on Saturday.
With Richard Wright sidelined for four months after sustaining a knee ligament injury in last week's win at Cardiff, Town are down to just two professional 'keepers in Arran and teenager Ian McLoughlin, who has not been involved at first team level.
"It's disappointing to lose Wrighty, he's a good pro who has just got back in the team," Town boss Roy told the Club website.
"It's a real blow for us and for him because it's not as though he's going to be out for a few weeks, it's a bad injury and he's out for four months. He put his body on the line and paid for it.
"It leaves us short on 'keepers. Ian will be on the bench but he's had no first team experience and while we are okay with Arran in goal for the weekend, we have got to remember that he will be training every day and you can pick up injuries then as well. We are also going into a hectic month so it's not ideal and that's why I always like having three or four 'keepers at the Club.
"I have great faith in Arran though. He has impressed me in training over the last few weeks and he did well when he came on at Cardiff last week. He had a good presence about him and his handling and kicking were good. The defence seemed very comfortable with him."
