Roy Keane felt Town could have had five or six goals but was happy to settle for the three in the win over Blackpool.
Jon Stead opened the scoring after 31 seconds, with Jack Colback and Gareth McAuley also on the scoresheet, Ian Evatt getting Blackpool's goal in their 3-1 defeat.
"Steady's goal coming so early was obviously a boost and that's what we've needed over the last few weeks," Roy told the Club website.
"It wasn't really a chance, more an opportunist effort and we had some good chances to have tied the game up well before the end.
"Blackpool probably had more of the possession but Jack's goal summed up our performance, a quick break, good movement but he still had a lot to do when he went through and he took it well.
"We could have had five or six goals in the end, really good chances but we took three and that's pleasing.
"It takes us out of the bottom three and mentally that's good but we've got a lot of work ahead of us and we need to kick on from here and move up the table as quickly as possible."
