PABLO: REF GOT IT RIGHT

Posted on: Mon 25 Jan 2010

Pablo Counago said the referee got it right when he didn't award a goal after the striker appeared to get a touch on Carlos Edwards' throw during the FA Cup defeat at Southampton.

Town players had tentatively started to celebrate as Carlos' long throw early in the second-half ended up in the net but Pablo told the Club website: "I tried to get a flick on it but didn't touch the ball. If it didn't touch anyone else then the referee got it right

"It was a very disappointing result for us. We controlled the game for the first 25 minutes but in the second-half we didn't create many chances and now we must look to react against West Brom on Tuesday."

Jon Walters was replaced by Pablo at half-time and the skipper is rated doubtful for the West Brom game with a hamstring injury.

"It's a blow because he's an important player for us. We will have to see how he is over the next 24 hours," said Town boss Roy Keane.
