MURPH REPAYING ROY FAITH

Posted on: Fri 12 Mar 2010

Daryl Murphy has told the Club website that he has always been confident he would score goals if he was played in his best position.

The Republic of Ireland international had not scored in over 40 games when he arrived at Portman Road on loan from Sunderland in January but he marked his debut with a goal after just 22 seconds in the draw with Middlesbrough and last night's brace in the win over Cardiff has taken his tally to five in eight matches.

"I have always said I can score goals if I'm used in my favourite position and that's not been the case over the last year or so before I came here," Daryl told Ipswich Player.

"I've been wasted on the left of midfield at Sunderland but the gaffer told me he was going to play me up front and give me a run there and I'm pleased I have been able to pay back some of the faith he has shown in me.

"He has given me a chance to show what I can do and it's going okay at the moment. Hopefully I can continue to score goals here."
