DAMIEN APPEAL LAUNCHED

Posted on: Mon 15 Mar 2010

Town have launched an appeal over Damien Delaney's red card against Scunthorpe on Saturday.

The Republic of Ireland international was dismissed by referee Pat Miller for serious foul play after catching Jonathan Forte on the halfway line.

Video evidence is being sent to the Football Association disciplinary committee to support Blues' case.

"We've had a look at the DVD and the Club are now in the process of appealing," Town boss Roy Keane told the Club website.

Damien was adamant that it was a yellow card rather than a red and told the Club website: "It wasn't a lunge or anything like that. The lad has broken and I've caught him with a trip as I've gone to ground. It was a yellow card."

The appeal will be heard at 1.00pm on Tuesday. If it's successful, Damien will be able to play against Watford tomorrow night. If it's thrown out by the disciplinary committee, he will be banned for three match with the possibility of a fourth if the appeal is deemed frivolous.
