WORLD CUP OVER FOR TOMMY

Posted on: Thu 24 Jun 2010

Tommy Smith's World Cup adventure is over after New Zealand were held to a goalless draw by Paraguay in their last group game.

The scoreline left the All Whites unbeaten in their three group matches - after draws against Slovakia (1-1) and world champions Italy (1-1).

New Zealand finished third in their group, ahead of Italy - who crashed out of the tournament after a 3-2 defeat to Slovakia.

Tommy impressed in his three appearances in South Africa and took his cap total to seven for the Kiwis.

He will now be given an extended break by Town before returning to pre-season training in July.
