ROY: PLAYERS WERE BRILLIANT

Posted on: Mon 16 Aug 2010

Roy Keane had nothing but praise for his players despite seeing two points slip away in added on time against Burnley.

David Norris looked to have won it for Blues with a backheel five minutes from time but Clarke Carlisle's header salvaged a draw for the Clarets.

"The players were brilliant. The effort and application they showed was outstanding," the Town boss told Player.

"We've had three tough games this week, with a lot of travelling and with a young team so it was a fantastic effort against a team that will be up there at the end of the season.

"It was a pity we couldn't hold on for the win but I always felt if they were going to get something it was going to come from a set-piece because they were physically bigger than us."

Marton Fulop produced a great save to deny Wade Elliott in the first-half, with Roy adding: "It was one of the best saves we've seen for a long time. It looked a goal all over but he did brilliant for us."
