Shane O'Connor has been called up by the Republic of Ireland U21s for their European Championship qualifiers.

The Republic play Switzerland on Friday and Turkey next Tuesday. Both games are away.

Shane was initially on standby but has now been added to the squad which will see the Republic finish their 2010 qualifying campaign. They have no chance of progressing in the tournament after only one win in the qualifiers.

The 20-year-old has represented Ireland at youth levels but has not featured for the U21s.
