Jim confident of promotion push
Jim Magilton is confident that Town will be firmly in the promotion picture this coming season with the young players at the Club having a key part to play in the campaign.
The former Northern Ireland international, capped over 50 times for his country, has signed a new one year contract at Portman Road, extending his stay at the Club into a sixth year.
He joins Fabian Wilnis and Richard Naylor is pledging his future to Blues and assures fans unsettled by the recent exit of some players from Portman Road that the future of the Club is very bright.
"It is always a little strange for fans and players as well to see people who have been at the Club a few years leave but that's football," Jim told the Club website.
"It's the same when you get new faces come in and I can remember when I arrived at the Club five years ago, I was the unfamiliar face in the dressing-room.
"But I can recall looking at my new team-mates then and seeing a determination to push for promotion to the Premiership and I see that same look in this squad.
"Yeah we have had a few players leave but the boss has already brought in Jason De Vos and there will be more to follow.
Darren and Dean - key role to play
"We've also got the young players from last season who became regulars in the first-team, the likes of Matty Richards, Ian Westlake, Darren Bent and Dean Bowditch.
"These lads will be all the better for the experiences of last season and that will make them important players for us this time around. They will be key in our ambitions to get into the Premiership.
"There are also a number of other promising young players coming through who will be pushing hard to stake their claim for a first-team place and that can only for a good sign for the Club."
