Premiership defender for Town?

Posted on: Wed 17 Nov 2004

Joe Royle has confirmed that next week he expects to bring in a Premiership defender on a season long loan.

The Town boss is also hopeful of adding another loanee to his squad before the League campaign kicks-off.

Speaking after the 2-1 win over Crystal Palace in the friendly at Portman Road, Joe said: "If all goes well, we will be bringing in a defender on loan from a Premiership club for the season.

"I would also like another front player here and I am confident of signing a player on loan for that role, possibly next week."

With speculation continuing to surround Pablo Counago and Joe accepting that the Club would have to listen to offers for the Spaniard given his higher wages, the Town boss added: "We have had no offers for Pablo at the moment and on his best form, I would be sorry to lose him."
