Cheryl overwhelmed by support

Posted on: Wed 17 Nov 2004

Cheryl Roberts has expressed her gratitude to the Town and Newcastle fans for their support during Wednesday night's testimonial in memory of her husband, Dale.

Close on 25,000 were at Portman Road to see Blues beat a powerful Magpies side 2-1 and Cheryl told the Club website: "Our family can't thank both the Town and Newcastle fans and the players from both clubs enough for providing a wonderful occasion.

"We were completely overwhelmed by the level of support shown by everyone on the night and it was great tribute to Dale."

Former Town player and assistant manager, Dale passed away in February 2002 after a brave fight against cancer.

Proceeds from the game, which saw the return to Portman Road of former Blues, Sir Bobby Robson, Kieron Dyer, Titus Bramble and Darren Ambrose, will go to his family and a local cancer charity.
