Gerard clear on cruciate

Posted on: Wed 17 Nov 2004

A specialist has reported no major knee problems for Gerard Nash after the Town defender picked up an injury in the U18s' win at Arsenal at the weekend.

The young Irishman has had two cruciate ligament operations in the last three years but scans have shown no damage in that area after Gerard saw the specialist on Monday.

"It looks as though Gerard has tweaked his medial ligament and that will put him out for two or three weeks on the face of it," Town physio Dave Williams confirmed to the Club website.

"He will have some more scans later in the week to see how it's settling down but the specialist has looked at the cruciate ligament and that seems fine which is obviously good news for Gerard and the Club."

The 18-year-old Dubliner, who is working his way back to full fitness after surgery at the turn of 2004, made his senior debut for Town in the 6-1 win against Burnley almost a year ago to the day.
