John Peel tribute

Posted on: Wed 17 Nov 2004

Town will be playing a musical tribute at Saturday's match to John Peel, the radio broadcaster and adopted Blues fan who passed away this week.

John was a season ticket holder at Portman Road, along with his wife Sheila, a big Town fan.

The two were on working holiday in Peru this week when John, a lifelong Liverpool fan, was taken ill and he later died of a heart attack.

There will be a tribute read out on the tannoy at 2.45pm before the game against Preston followed by the Undertones' Teenage Kicks, one of John's favourite tracks.

Ipswich World carried out an extensive interview with John and Sheila in the summer and all Town fans can hear what the couple had to say about their affinity with the Club.
