Town boss Joe Royle has told the Club website that it will take a 'silly' bid to prise Darren Bent away from Portman Road in the January transfer window.

The England U21 international took his goal tally for the season to eight at the weekend with the winner against Leeds and has been reported as a target of a number of Premiership clubs.

Town turned down a £3m bid from Charlton for the 20-year-old striker in August and since then both Everton and Aston Villa have been linked with the player.

But talking to Ipswich World in an exclusive interview, Joe says: "We are not flush with money, we are not out of the danger yet but we are getting better all the time and certainly gates likes the 30,000 we had for the Leeds game help.

"I am not going to say that if someone comes in and bids £10m for Darren then we will have any choice in the matter because there are other people to consider.

" But unless it's a silly bid, Darren will be staying with us. It's as simple as that."
