Lewis joins Cambridge

Posted on: Thu 18 Nov 2004

Town 'keeper Lewis Price is joining Cambridge on a month's loan but with an understanding that he can be recalled immediately.

The Wales U21 international is joining the League Two side in time for their weekend game against Rushden.

"It's the next step forward for Lewis and we have been actively trying to loan him out for much of the season," Town boss Joe Royle told the Club website.

"We couldn't let him go when Kelvin was injured but now he's back and with Shane Supple here as well, we are in a position where Lewis can go out and gain some more first-team experience.

"He will join up with Cambridge this week but part of the deal means we can bring him back immediately if anything happens to Kelvin."

Lewis has made nine first-team appearances for Town this season and covered for Kelvin while the Blues' No.1 was out for a month with a back injury.
