Daryl Murphy has been forced to cut short his trial at Portman Road after sustaining a groin injury in training.

The Republic of Ireland U21 international was scheduled to spend the week with Town but picked up the injury on the first day.

The Waterford striker, who is also reported to be interesting Manchester City, is likely to return to Portman Road early in January 2005 to have a second crack at impressing Blues' boss Joe Royle.
