Joe Royle says he will enjoy his Christmas dinner after Town went two points clear at the top of the Championship with victory over Wigan.

A late goal from Darren Bent gave Blues the points after Richard Naylor had cancelled out Leighton Baines' blistering 35 yard opener.

"I was scratching my head in frustration after their goal because I couldn't believe we were behind but full credit to the players, they came back, not for the first time this season, or the second or the third either," said Joe.

          Bam Bam levels for Town

"We deserved the points in the end against a very good Wigan side who always threatened on the break.

"Darren Bent didn't have the best game he's had and I did think about taking him off but he is always likely to score and when he had that chance, he took it superbly.

"Darren Currie was outstanding for us. He gives us something different and doesn't have to beat a player to get a cross in as he showed in the first-half with that chance for Shefki's header.

"The two lads at the back, Jason and Bam Bam were excellent again for us against a very good Wigan attack and Westy and Tommy matched their workrate in midfield.

"With Kevin Horlock back for Millwall it gives me a nice selection problem for the trip to the Den as well.

"It's great to be top at Christmas and I'll enjoy my dinner this year but there is a long way to go yet and we are not getting carried away."
