Town Chairman David Sheepshanks has praised the spirit of the players after another comeback saw Blues go top with victory over Wigan.

"Psychologically it was important to win that came and especially to come back from such a wonder strike; it just shows the extraordinary spirit that just runs right through the team and through every member of this Club," he says.

"Everyone knows that nothing is won today; this is the first game of the second half of the season but we've won and we've won in front of a full house - it was a fantastic performance. Wigan are a good side and they are spirited but how many chances did we have? Everyone saw Ipswich at their best.

"I would like to wish all our magnificent supporters a very happy Christmas; it's been an extraordinary year and the ship has turned round and we've got some momentum; our goal is in sight. We're top and let's hope we can continue in this way on Boxing Day and I hope to see everyone back at Portman Road against Stoke on the 28th December. Happy Christmas everyone."
