Lewis back at Town

Posted on: Wed 29 Dec 2004

Lewis Price has been recalled from his loan spell at Cambridge after an injury to youngster Shane Supple.

The Welsh U21 international goalkeeper had just started a second month at the Abbey Stadium but will now return to Portman Road on Thursday and join the squad for the New Year's Day game against West Ham.

While Lewis has been at Cambridge, 17-year-old Shane has been on first-team squad as cover for Kelvin Davis but Town coach Steve McCall told the Club website: "Shane has been carrying a heel injury for a week or so and it's not been improving.

"We had hoped it would have cleared up by now and he's not been training fully but the physio team say that he needs a complete break for a week or two so we have had to bring Lewis back.

"It's a shame because he was getting some first-team experience at Cambridge and enjoying his football there.

"We spoke to Cambridge about the situation on Monday and agreed to let him play for them yesterday but he will be back training with us on Thursday in preparation for the West Ham game.

"Shane has got the FA Youth Cup match against Stoke coming up in January and it's important that he recovers fully in time for that."
