Joe Royle admits he is no fan of the transfer window and says the system borders on restraint of trade.

The Football League have announced that the 'window' will come into play in the Championship and Leagues One and Two next season in line with the Premiership and Town boss Joe told the Club website: "I've been informed of that change, let's hope we are looking down on it rather than at it with regards to the Championship.

"I don't see how the transfer window in general helps anyone but the biggest clubs with the biggest squads.

"There shouldn't be a restriction in transfer dealings to certain times, it's almost restraint of trade but the simple facts are that it's here and we have to deal with it."

January's transfer window has closed now with the only changes to the Town squad, incoming rather than outgoing ones that some may have feared.

David Unsworth has arrived on loan from Portsmouth to the end of the season, with Jimmy Juan also joining on loan until the summer from Monaco

"We told our fans that the window wasn't open at Portman Road and we have been as good as our word," added Joe.
